Every year I love to take my boyfriend to a different country as a present, I love giving him an experience and memories over an actual object. He loves it too. This year I booked Amsterdam, I invited our two friends as well as a surprise.
I made a few hints over the last couple of months but managed to make it all the way to August without slipping up and spoiling the surprise. It worked so well because I told him that our friends were going to drop us to the airport but in fact, they were coming with us. So, they dropped us to the airport as they normally would, at the short stay drop off. My boyfriend still had no idea, they went off and parked the car as we went through and checked in.
We went through security and sat waiting for our flight. I kept texting our friends to keep them updated with our location, so we didn’t bump into them. We managed to get all the way onto the plane without my boyfriend finding out. They just got on the plane and sat next to us. It was brilliant, I am so happy that he didn’t guess, and it went so smoothly, he was over the moon. Next step was getting to Amsterdam to enjoy our getaway.
When booking accommodation, it can sometimes be a bit of a hit or miss. Usually I’m a hotel kind of girl, I like my own room and own bathroom. I did speak to a few different people who have been to Amsterdam before to see where they stayed and if I could get any recommendations. This is the second time I’ve been to Amsterdam and I love it there. I didn’t want to stay in the same place as before because its nice to mix it up and the place I stayed last time has gone up massively in price since they finished doing renovations. It was stunning, but I don’t want to spend crazy money on accommodation because I never end up spending much time in the room, its just a base.
Our two friends helped me with the accommodation. Some people suggested staying in a hostel, had a look at a few but didn’t like the idea of it for myself. So, we had a little look on Airbnb and found a cute place, we could come and go as we pleased, place to our self and two separate rooms.
The accommodation was lovely, very happy with it. It was really clean, that makes me so happy. I can’t cope staying in a place that is dirty. The woman who we booked with was lovely, she sent lots of messages with information about the area. She stocked the fridge and cupboard with lots of food for us, provided toiletries and towels. We stayed slightly out of the hustle and bustle of the city, it was lovely and quiet but still close enough to walk to the main city centre. I would defiantly say it was worth the money. Had an amazing time.
